Baby Colds and Fever
The cold weather can have effects on almost everybody. Some adults pick up some illness during the cold season. Nasal allergies and colds are the usual infirmities during these chilly weather conditions. But sniffing sounds and runny noses are not just for adults during the frosty climate. In some instances, the freezing conditions can also be especially hard for the little tots. Here a few tips to help your baby with his colds.
Instead of using tissues for his runny nose, try a soft cloth instead. Let your baby blow his nose over the gentle surface of a soft cloth. Not only does using it save money, you are also saving trees in the process. Always follow it up with a drink so that your baby can replenish the lost fluids.
Try to keep your baby's room warm. Usually, stuffy nose is caused by the cold air. Accordingly, keeping the room temperature at a level higher than the weather outside can help ease the stuffiness. Also, you can humidify the room by running a hot shower until the room gets steamy. Let your tiny tot inhale the steam generated to ease the stuffy nose.
Never apply medicated rubs like Vicks directly on your baby's sensitive skin. Instead, try taking a bit of Vicks on a piece of washcloth. Then, place the cloth inside your baby's shirt. Make sure that the Vicks side of the cloth do not touch your baby's skin. Rather, let the Vicks side face outwards to the direction of the shirt. You can also do this if your baby has fever.
When your little tot has fever, try using a wet cloth and place it on his forehead to ease the fever down. If the fever does not go down, it would be best to contact your doctor. Also, never give your child any drug or medication unless your doctor explicitly told you to do so.
